Knowledge Precinct

The vibrant Perth campus is located in the centre of the cultural area of Northbridge and close to the heart of the city.

As the largest Central campus, Perth comprises of four main buildings, each with excellent facilities.

Known as the Knowledge Industries Precinct of Central, the campus houses centres of specialisation in:
  • Building and Engineering
  • Creative Industries
  • Travel and Tourism
  • English Language and other languages

The opening of a new $62 million dynamic training facility at 30 Aberdeen Street has completed Central’s redevelopment of its city campus linking all of the buildings in the precinct.

The new building houses training portfolios for the key skill areas of engineering, architecture design and building and programs for the lifestyle industries including high tech massage and beauty therapy treatment rooms.

 Buildings

 
The Perth campus has seven buildings all located in and around Aberdeen Street, just off William Street, Northbridge.

Building 1 - 25 Aberdeen Street

Delivers courses in the areas of travel, tourism, events, and languages, business and management, finance and property services, english language programs, ELICOS programs, fitness programs (including the gym) plus various administrative functions. It also houses the canteen and the bookshop.

Building 2 - 30 Aberdeen Street

The newest building on the Perth campus, construction of this building began in 2009 with occupancy in early 2011. Programs delivered from this state of the art building include engineering, building, architecture, design, beauty therapy and massage and the library is housed here.

Building 3 - 1 Museum Street (Media House)

The no 1 Museum Street building is a Heritage listed building built in 1897 and home to the photography and film and television areas.

Building 4 - 133 Newcastle Street

The hub of the printing and jewellery industries, construction of this building began in 2008 with occupancy in early 2009.
The building is home to courses in printing, jewellery, multi media and graphic design.


Building 5 - 12 Aberdeen Street

The site was constructed in 2001 and delivers courses in visual arts and crafts; and ceramics.

The building houses Central's purpose-built art gallery, Gallery Central.
 
 

Building 6 - 19 Aberdeen St

Home to the media and applied design areas and our film and television studios.
 

Building 7 - 14 Aberdeen Streeet

Another of Central's heritage listed buildings built around 1896 and home to courses in the areas of film and television.

Aboriginal Support Services

Nyoongar Kadadjiny Kulark Kart at 30 Aberdeen Street is a meeting place for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at Central. 

Our support officers assist with information in a range of areas to do with your studies including:

  • Course enquiries.
  • Facilities.
  • Fees payments and installment plans.
  • Referrals to external support agencies.
  • Pathway opportunities.

International Centre

The International Centre is a welcoming venue for students to get support, advice, network, share experiences and make new friends.

The Centre houses a prayer room, a kitchen equipped with microwave, refrigerator and tea and coffee making facilities.

Wireless Internet Access

Students  can access the internet at all buildings within the Perth campus on their wireless device using Central's free wireless connection, Central WiFi.
 

Cafeteria

You can enjoy breakfast, lunch or a wholesome snack at the Perth campus canteen. A variety of foods and drinks are available including:

  • Coffee and muffins
  • Fresh fruit
  • Assorted salads
  • Burgers
  • Turkish breads
  • Hot dogs
  • Pies
  • Sushi
  • Sausage rolls
  • Sandwiches, rolls and wraps
  • Carbonated drinks
    • Milk and dairy drinks.
There is also a selection of food for vegetarians.

The canteen is closed during the holidays, but vending machines are available.
 

Library and bookshop

Perth campus has a modern well equipped library, providing a range of resources including internet access, photocopying facilities and quiet study spaces.
 

Prayer room

Central embraces the religious and spiritual diversity of its staff and student community. In recognition of this diversity, the Perth campus has a prayer room for staff and students.

Parking

Student parking is not available on the Perth campus grounds  although there is ample parking in parking garages and parking bays around the campus.

 Wilson Parking

The closest car parks to the Perth Campus include the State Library and Northbridge Central Car Park.

ACROD parking bays

There is one ACROD bay off Francis Street, and two ACROD bays in the parking area on the corner of Museum and Aberdeen Streets.

Students wishing to use the ACROD parking bays must display a valid ACROD parking permit on their vehicle.

Bicycle routes and racks

Central campuses are ideally located along many of the city's cycle routes.
