A very liveable city

Take a tour of Perth with James, a current international student.

Perth is the capital of the largest state in Australia, Western Australia.

With a population of 1.7 million people, Perth is a sophisticated and cosmopolitan city with fantastic shopping, cafés, bars and restaurants all within easy reach.

In the 2012 Economist survey, Perth was ninth on a list of the most liveable cities in the world.

Central’s campuses are located in popular cultural hubs just minutes from the city centre.

 Outdoor lifestyle

Enjoy our  unique West Australian lifestyle

kingspark.jpgPerth experiences a mediterranean climate. Summers are dry, and although can be hot during the day, a cooling sea breeze known as the ‘Fremantle Doctor’ can make for comfortable outdoor evenings. During winter, the temperatures can be cold overnight but are mild and sunny during the day.

Because of this climate, West Australians embrace the outdoors, and it occupies much of our leisure time.

There are many beaches  to go around, such as the famous Cottesloe beach, most of which are supervised by trained lifeguards.

Right on the city's door step, overlooking the skyline is Kings Park, with over 4000 hectares of bushland, with walking trails, gardens and picnic areas.

Rottnest Island is located a short ferry away. This unique holiday spot has beautiful bays to swim and snorkel in and with no cars allowed, it is a great place to cycle. It is also the home of the Quokka.

As a windy city, Perth is also internationally renowned for it's sailing activities, and it's harbour city, Fremantle, famously hosted the America's Cup.

 Food

Fresh and affordable

littlecreatures.jpgPerth is a mixing bowl of different dishes brought together from different parts of the world. Restaurants offer a great variety of menus from oriental cuisine to fresh seafood.

There are also a great number of international dishes authentically prepared in easily accessible food outlets around Perth, at an affordable price.

Australia has its own specific culinary culture known as Modern Australian which is influenced by the waves of immigration over the years. It’s a mixture of British cooking fused with Oriental spices and cooking methods. There is also a distinct Mediterranean influence as well.
