Services for Students

How to Join

All students enrolled at the Central Institute are eligible to join the Library.
A combined Student ID, library, photocopy and print card is available for $10.00.
  • Student ID cards can be obtained from the Bookshop at the Perth campus, please bring your enrolment form.  Go to the Library to activate your library membership.
  • At the other campuses, please pay for your student ID card at student services.
Bring your receipt and enrolment form to the Library for your student card.

You are entitled to borrow a total of 8 items at any one time, generally for a period of 4 weeks. However, some items in high demand may have restricted borrowing periods.

Most items may be renewed once, provided they are not overdue or required by other borrowers. This may be done at the library, over the phone, via the Library Catalogue or email Help Library.

Library resources are in high demand and late returns cause problems for other patrons. Borrowed items should be returned on or before their due date. Patrons who fail to return overdue items may be prevented from further borrowing.
It is the responsibility of patrons to ensure all items are returned in good condition. Patrons will be invoiced for lost or damaged items.

Interlibrary Loans

If an item is not available at the Library, you may request an interlibrary loan from another library. Central Institute students may request up to 5 free interlibrary loans each semester providing they are course related.

Reciprocal Borrowing Rights

Central Institute students are entitled to borrow library items from most other Training WA Colleges and Murdoch, Edith Cowan and Curtin Universities. Present your current Central Institute Student ID card and enrolment form at the institution of your choice. The conditions of use may vary depending on the agreement, so please check before you borrow.
